Personal Information

Elena Marie Castillo Marquez is a 35-year-old widowed Filipino helper with over 6 years of experience working in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.  She has three children: a 13-year-old son, a 12-year-old daughter, and a 1-year-old daughter. When she comes to Singapore to work, her children will be cared for by her mother. She currently lives with her parents and younger brother. Her father (60 years old) is unwell and stays at home, while her mother (58 years old) will take full responsibility for looking after Elena’s children. Her younger brother is still attending school.

Elena completed her High School education in 2008 at the age of 16. After graduation, she worked in a supermarket for about two years before getting married in 2012. Sadly, she became a widow in 2023 and is now seeking overseas employment to provide a better future for her children.

Employment History

2010 – 2012 - Computer Company – Printing Assistant
Worked in a computer and printing company, assisting with printing services and general office-related duties.

2015 – 2017 - Supermarket Cashier
Worked as a cashier, handling customer payments, assisting customers, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area.

Overseas Domestic Helper Experience

Saudi Arabia from July 2017 – July 2018 (1 year)

Family of 10 : Sir, Madam and 8 children. Children’s ages ranged from newborn to 13 years old Elena was the only helper

House : Apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets

Main Duties : Full housekeeping, Laundry and ironing, Daily cooking assistance, Assisted in caring for the children whenever required, Managed all household chores independently

In addition to household duties, Elena was also required to assist in her employer’s beauty salon, performing basic hair rebonding preparation, manicure, and pedicure assistance.

Reason for Leaving after 1 year : 

• Incomplete contract due to insufficient rest and the additional workload at the employer’s salon.

United Arab Emirates from September 2018 – December 2021 (3 years 3 months)

Family Details : Family of 6 - Grandmother ,Sir, Madam, Children aged 2, 3 and 5 years old. She was the Single helper in the House.

Employers lived in a 3-storey landed house consist of 5 bedrooms and 3 toilets

Main Duties : Complete housekeeping, Cooking daily meals, Laundry and ironing and Childcare

Every morning she prepared the children for school, including bathing, dressing them, preparing breakfast, and getting their school bags ready. The children left for school at 7.00 am and returned home at approximately 3.00 pm. During school hours, Elena completed the household chores, laundry, ironing, and meal preparation. After school she looked after the children, prepared snacks, supervised them, and assisted with evening routines. Her workday usually ended around 9.00 pm.

United Arab Emirates from August 2022 – August 2024 (2 years)

Family Details : Family of 4 included Sir, Madam, Children: newborn baby and 2-year-old child. Two helpers in the household

House : Apartment with 3 bedrooms and 3 toilets

Main Duties : Housekeeping, Laundry and ironing, Assisted the other helper with daily cooking, Shared responsibility in caring for the newborn baby, Assisted with feeding, bathing, changing diapers, sterilising milk bottles, preparing baby items, and ensuring the baby’s comfort and safety. She worked closely with the other helper to maintain the household and ensure the children’s daily needs were well taken care of.

Reason for Leaving : Completed contract.

Cooking Skills

Elena is able to cook a variety of Filipino dishes and Arabic cuisine. She is also willing to learn Chinese, Indian, Malay, and other cuisines by following recipes and her employer’s preferences.
